Letter to the editor: Congress' double standards
The double standard stood out in Congress when the Democratic-controlled House passed a hate resolution without mentioning the name of Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, who made anti-Semitic comments (“Rep. Ilhan Omar’s comments prompt House Democrats to craft anti-Semitism measure,” March 4, TribLIVE).
On the other hand, Republican Rep. Steve King of Iowa making what some consider white supremacist remarks was condemned by his own party. In addition he was stripped of his committee leadership.
