Letter to the editor: Coronavirus & abortion
In 2018, the Pennsylvania Department of Health recorded 30,364 abortions. Of those, 87% were in the six counties of Philadelphia, Montgomery, Delaware, Dauphin, Northampton and Allegheny.
As of April 28, Pennsylvania has confirmed 42,000 cases of covid-19 and 1,600 deaths. Much of the virus has occurred in those same counties.
In 2019, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed into law the Reproductive Health Act, which states that “an abortion may be performed by a licensed, certified or authorized practitioner within 24 weeks from the commencement of pregnancy, or (when) there is an absence of fetal viability, or at any time when necessary to protect a patient’s life or health” (until birth). Cuomo then went on to order One World Trade Center, two bridges and the state office building in Albany to be lit in pink as a celebration. He was shining a bright light endorsing what the rest of the nation should follow.
Today, the state of New York leads the United States in the coronavirus infections and deaths. Could it be we are reaping what we’ve sown?
The scripture is very clear in the Bible: “Do not be deceived. God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.”
