Letter to the editor: Coronavirus, Trump & national debt

Imbleachment. Injecting with disinfectants is called embalming. That’s what the Egyptians did to the pharaohs. Anybody who defends this indefensible stupidity, including the hydroxychloroquine quackery, is probably a Trump boot licker.

During President Obama’s eight years the national debt went from $12 trillion to $19 trillion, mostly due to the need to dig out of the 2008 second great Republican depression. We already had a yearly trillion-dollar deficit before covid-19, mostly to give the Republican donor class more tax cuts. The current national debt is $23 trillion. At $33 trillion $100,000 will be owed to the federal government for every man, woman and child in the country, a historic milestone! That’s how empires fail.

The 1918 pandemic occurred in three waves. It started fairly mild with a 2-4% death rate in the spring. It mutated and returned in the fall 10 times more deadly with a death rate at 20-40%, then mutated again and returned back to the more milder form by the following spring. It’s called evolution, something Mike Pence doesn’t seem to believe in.

Covid-19 may be following a similar path. Trump said it “might not come back at all” in the fall, Dr. Anthony Fauci said it would. Put your money on Fauci.

Thoughts and prayers.
