Imagine getting fired from your job because the boss objects to your hairstyle, texture or type. Imagine if a school official sent your child home simply because of their hair. While this possibility might seem absurd to some Pennsylvanians, state law does not currently offer protection from this form of exclusion. The Pennsylvania CROWN Act would prohibit discrimination based on natural hair, including locs, braids, cornrows and Afros.

I urge the Senate to move the CROWN Act to a full vote in the next session and pass this bill, thereby supporting people across the commonwealth who simply want to go to school and work and otherwise engage in daily life.
