Letter to the editor: Cupp's anti-Trump campaign

In her continuing campaign to diminish Donald Trump, S.E. Cupp wields her verbal knives, saying he “is a convicted criminal, an adjudicated sexual abuser and an ignoramus” (“We are obsessed with Coldplay’s kiss cam couple,” July 25, TribLive). Wow! She concludes by saying that he is incompetent. Not so.

Since his return, most of his record is the opposite of incompetent. He has:

• Secured the southern border, stopping the inflow of fentanyl and illegal immigrants, many of whom have committed heinous crimes and burdened cities with huge costs. Much of his effort has been spent correcting the border mess authored by the incompetence of Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and Alejandro Mayorkas.

• Neutralized Iran’s development of nuclear weapons in the world’s hottest tinderbox of potential war.

• Forced university recipients of millions of federal dollars to eliminate antisemitism and to make campuses safe for students.

• Reduced the high cost of government and the country’s crippling debt, by identifying staff cuts and eliminating activities that can no longer be supported by a nation that has overspent.

These are big impact problems that he is tackling head on — and succeeding. Despite constant media criticism, Trump makes himself consistently available to the media, a 180 degree reversal from Biden, who avoided press conferences and press scrutiny.

If Cupp thinks his moral profile is short of what it should be, she will continue hammering away. Like or loathe Trump, know that seven months into his four years, the United States is much better off than it would have been had Harris prevailed.
