Some random thoughts:

• No matter who you voted for Nov. 8, if you listened to or watched any of the PAC ads, every candidate running was “dangerous and extreme.”

• It’s harder than ever to get kids to read books. Some parents and school boards have figured out an old trick to get kids to read. Ban books from the school library or curriculum! Because no kid over the age of 10 can figure out how to access a book from their phone, right?

• There is not any formal school curriculum titled critical race theory. But because we only like to teach positive things about the USA in our schools, I was 65 years old before I learned about events such as the Tulsa Oklahoma massacre of Black people in 1921, or the murders of native Americans on the Osage Indian reservation (also in Oklahoma) in the 1920s and ’30s (estimated to be around 300 people), and how Christopher Columbus enslaved virtually all the indigenous people he encountered.

• Please stop using the verb “woke” as an adjective: e.g., “I woke up from my nap,” as opposed to “My nap made me woke to sleeping.”
