In an attempt to slow the spread of covid-19, Gov. Tom Wolf followed the CDC guidelines. Because of his actions, Pennsylvania is one of the few states where the number of new cases has been decreasing. State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe’s push to impeach the governor (“Rep. Daryl Metcalfe reveals 5 articles of impeachment against Gov. Tom Wolf,” June 16, TribLIVE) seems like so much theater. He does not behave as a serious legislator but rather as one who wants to stir up controversy, to act out and gain attention. His constituents need and deserve someone who acts as an adult and works to advance their well-being.
It is unfortunate Republicans are politicizing this virus. They are hindering the ability to govern effectively so we can control the virus and get our economy back on track. Lately, the Republicans seem uninterested in governing, only interested in holding on to power and obstructing, typified by Metcalfe’s stunt.
