Letter to the editor: Decisions on Trump

Tribune-Review

“Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.” — Sir Walter Scott

“Liar liar, pants on fire.” — Child’s taunt

Web weavers and liars were out in full force in New York Judge Juan Merchan’s courtroom testifying in the case of People vs. Donald J. Trump.

Five weeks of testimony from the likes of former National Enquirer head David Pecker and his ilk was heard.

Porn star Stormy Daniels gave salacious details of her alleged dalliance with the married, serial adulterer Trump. Thankfully, Melania, Trump’s wife, chose not to attend and hear yet another female’s “kiss and tell” about her unfaithful husband.

Trump “fixer” Michael Cohen exemplified the established fact that he and Trump are a match made in the Liars’ Lair of Hades.

Trump pretended to wish to testify, but eventually backed down and spared the court embarrassment. He did violate Merchan’s gag order and was found in contempt. And he complained daily about the courtroom temperature.

Outside, camera-seeking 2020 election deniers succeeded in making fools of themselves as Veep or future cabinet wannabes.

The jury has found Trump guilty on 34 felony counts. Expect little change in the court of public opinion.

The weavers and liars have had their day in court. The ultimate decision rests with the voters.
