I feel compelled to respond to the letter “Our leaders must speak out on racism” (June 27, TribLIVE) regarding state Sen. Kim Ward’s warning on the Greensburg rally for George Floyd.

I believe these protests are organized by Marxists who are using race as a vehicle to achieve their political objective, to defeat President Trump. I also believe ordinary people are tired of being called “racist” for disagreeing on the substance of issues. This is a common tactic utilized by left-wing Democrats and socialists.

I’m appalled by the silence of the left in regards to the events taking place across our country, including police cars and American flags being burned, civilians being attacked, and Abraham Lincoln and George Washington statues being vandalized and torn down. The Democrats’ temper tantrum is getting old, but their elected leaders remain silent while African American cops are being harassed and murdered.

I call on all the elected Democratic leaders across our region and beyond to condemn police hatred, stop the looting of our small businesses, and take responsibility for the destruction and violence that’s taking place in our cities under their leadership.
