In his State of the Union address, President Donald Trump stated the first duty of members of Congress is the protection of the American people, as compared to protecting illegal immigrants. He asked them to stand if they agreed. Every Republican stood up. Every Democrat remained seated.
About half the Democrats didn’t have the courtesy to attend, a new low in decorum. I was appalled at the Democrat senators’ and representatives’ lack of loyalty to the people they have sworn an oath to represent.
The president asked for agreement on such important items as protecting children from sex change mutilation, protection of women’s sports, voter ID laws and deportation of illegal immigrants. Democrats again sat silent.
With this level of ignorance in the face of commonsense issues, and voicing no alternatives that will advance America on either the world or domestic stage, I must ask: What kind of America do Democrats want? An America in which whole communities burn to ashes because leaders ignore emergency water supplies, as in Gavin Newsom’s California, or where garbage piles up and businesses choose to leave, as in Zohran Mamdani’s New York?
Democrats don’t seem concerned when inflation runs rampant, or when fraud is allowed to become an industry, as in President Biden’s America. How about a nation with increased taxes for those who work, but equal pay for those who won’t? It is certainly not a nation I want for my grandchildren.
Let’s all support the America Trump envisions — a strong, prosperous America, leading the world into a peaceful future. That America is well within our grasp.
