Letter to the editor: Democrats' deflection

Tribune-Review

The writer of the letter “Name-calling goes both ways” (Nov. 3, TribLive) referenced, in rebuttal, my letter “Why I’ll never vote for a Democrat” (Oct. 25, TribLive). In my letter I cited the following reasons why I will never vote for a Democrat: Democrats’ embracing political violence; Democratic prosecutors and judges enabling crime; and Democrats’ horrific neglect of our southern border.

In her rebuttal letter, the writer makes several assertions citing statistical information. Problematically, her assertions don’t actually address the points I was making in my letter. The writer included the following:

• The states with the highest murder rates (red states).

• The racial makeup (Blacks/whites) of murderers and their victims (my letter does not mention race).

• The number of murders (“only” 15) committed by illegal immigrants this year. (Really? Just 15? Well, those victims’ loved ones should be comforted by that. What about rapes and other violent crimes committed by people who likely would have been interdicted at the border under a competent president?)

It seems that when leftists aren’t able to silence conservatives, they resort to deflection.

In the final paragraph, the writer claims that I stated that “Democrats are the root of all evils in this country.” I re-read my letter to make absolutely certain that I wrote nothing even resembling that statement. It’s one thing to disagree with someone’s opinion, whatever your reasoning. It’s quite another to just make stuff up.
