Letter to the editor: Democrats need to moderate

Why can’t today’s Republicans and Democrats work together to fix our seriously bleeding country, the way that Democrat President Bill Clinton and Republican Speaker Newt Gingrich did in 1995, and President Regan and Speaker Tip O’Neil did in 1987?

Well, significantly, all four were from the moderate wings of their respective parties, while today’s Harris-Biden administration, in order to get the votes to defeat President Donald Trump in 2020, sold out to the extreme socialistic left wing of their Democratic Party. They bought into “defund the police,” an unsecure southern border, the progressive “Squad,” the destruction of American gas and energy industries, a weaker military, the woke culture, “diversity, equity and inclusion” instead of meritocracy, and no school choice, to name a few.

These big government, socialistic programs are producing record federal debt, inflation of our prices and world tensions. There is no room for compromise here, unless the Democratic Party returns to the moderate party of “the working man” and President Jack Kennedy.

And, perhaps of even greater concern, it now appears that Kamala Harris is even further left than President Joe Biden. It seems we all need to vote based on what agenda a candidate believes in, rather than who we like better, especially with the mainstream press so political and unreliable.
