If, as letter-writer Thomas Severin offers in his letter “Republican Party has no honor” (Feb. 13, TribLIVE), that the party of the pachyderms has no honor, I opine that today’s Democratic Party offers nothing, nada, zip, zilch.

He says nice words that we should expect and demand from our elected officials. Words like fair and impartial. Honesty and integrity.

One of Michigan Democrat Rashida Tlaib’s first utterances after being sworn in in 2018 was “… we’re gonna impeach the (expletive)!” What a great example of purity and impartiality. She would not be chronicled in JFK’s “Profiles in Courage.”

Speaking of JFK, the policies and beliefs he embraced in the ’60s would make him a Republican today. That’s how far left the Democratic Party has swung.

One-party Democrat-run sanctuary states like California, New York and Illinois show the results of their policies.

The party of the donkey has become just like its mascot: a herd of asses.
