Letter-writer Oren Spiegler’s comments indicate to me that his brain is wired backwards (“Republicans, the party of lies,” Feb. 12, TribLIVE). The Party of Lies is the Democratic Party.

The investigation of the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol is a farce. The Republicans chose Reps. Jim Jordon and Jim Banks to be on the committee. Nancy Pelosi rejected them and chose Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger instead, showing her bias.

Does Spiegler know about the mayhem that took place all over the country during Black Lives Matter and antifa protests?. People died and billions of dollars were lost by innocent business people. Nothing has happened to most of these evil perpetrators.

Some of the people who walked through the Capitol are in prison, denied bail. They are political prisoners. Does Spiegler know that Vice President Kamala Harris asked people to “chip in” to help post bail for BLM and antifa protesters in Minnesota in 2020? I don’t think anything has happened to most of the people who incited riots and threw pipe bombs, or to the U.S. Capitol Police officer who shot Ashli Babbitt on Jan. 6.

Spiegler has the audacity to say that Presidents Reagan and Eisenhower wouldn’t recognize what their party has become. Would President Kennedy recognize what the Democratic Party has become?
