Once again, Joseph Sabino Mistick does his “OK for me but not for thee” routine (“Our represenatives must have room to do right,” Feb. 20, TribLIVE). He goes on about how the elected Republicans need to be independent from the wishes of their electorate but, again, conveniently ignores the Democrats doing the same thing.

How is it that you get every elected Democrat voting for every issue the same way? You do it by the party leadership threatening the rank and file with reprisals for voting the wrong way: committee assignments blocked, money for the home district denied, cutting staff, etc.

Look what has happened to Dems who vote, speak or write about right-to-life issues, going all the way back to Bob Casey Sr. They denied him the right to speak at their convention, even when he was the sitting governor of Pennsylvania. Mistick never talks about that, does he?
