With all due respect to Freeport officials, frankly I was disappointed and embarrassed after attending the Freeport Halloween Carnival. All you read about in the news is how this or that community received either a state or federal government grant for improvement of local facilities. The location of this event — a former football field for the school district — is a disgrace. The restroom was filthy and in disrepair. The area where the field bleachers were is an eyesore and unsafe.
For all of the out-of-town visitors, is this how we want our area to be represented?
