Regarding the story “Pirates GM Ben Cherington: We need great players” (Sept. 15, TribLIVE): I find it disheartening that Cherington has just now discovered that we need more talent.

I also find it sad that Cherington does not realize that owner Bob Nutting seems to care less about the Pirates winning. Ben, Bob is not going to spring for decent players. He is making millions because of revenue sharing, and will probably never do anything to give Pittsburgh a winner. It’s called greed.

The only good thing about this season is that Nutting is likely not making millions because of covid-19. The Pirates have become an embarrassment across the sporting world. In my opinion, Nutting has no pride because he is making millions and does not care.

Mr. Cherington you have no chance. Head for the hills.
