When my family went to put Memorial Day flowers and flags on my dad’s grave at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in North Versailles, we found his metal World War II flag holder was stolen from his gravesite along with my grandfather’s World War I flag holder.

What has happened to this world? People have no respect for deceased veterans who gave their lives for thieves’ freedom to do this unthinkable act. I am very upset and frustrated with this disrespectfulness and hope what goes around comes around.

Then I heard about the damage done to veterans monument in Lawrenceville (“FBI announces $2,500 reward in Pittsburgh war memorial vandalism case,” May 29, TribLIVE). I hope those criminals were caught on video or someone saw something and says something.

To all the police out there: Please find the people doing this unbelievable damage to our veterans and put a stop to it. Sad, sad, sad.
