How do so many of your thoughtful, well-meaning letter-writers come to such opposite hyper partisan conclusions?
Your July 31 letter headlines were typical: “Overcoming the Trump mistake,” “Dems’ racist rhetoric,” “Mueller vs. Trump: Who to believe?”
We are being unduly and selectively influenced by the confusing and repetitive, and even “fake,” news that we are bombarded with 24/7 by cable news and the mainstream media.
Years ago, we could listen to ABC, NBC, CBS and KDKA and get consistent political news, and easily differentiate news from propaganda, and opinions from news reports.
Today, the best ways I find to discover the truth are to avoid the repetitive, biased media like MSNBC, CNN and The New York Times, with their hidden political agendas, and rely on more balanced media like the Wall Street Journal and PBS, and to read the investigative reports of reputable political writers.
Two current examples:
“Licensed to Lie” by former federal prosecutor Sydney Powell exposes corruption in the Department of Justice, revealing to me that it’s likely that the Mueller report was directed by Mueller’s 17-man, Democratic-inclined staff.
“Justice on Trial” by Carrie Severino supports that Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s testimony was truthful during his hearings for his Supreme Court seat.
So, we need to do our homework to seek out a clearer picture of who’s lying, or telling only one side of the story. Whether a President Trump supporter, or a Trump hater, we shouldn’t confine ourselves just to media that support our preconceived points of view.
Truth is not all black, nor is it all white.
