Letter to the editor: Donald Trump & his adversaries
Time wounds all heals. I didn’t make a mistake with these words. The two-party system in America has been dysfunctional for decades. Nothing gets done in Washington. And it’s getting worse.
There is less civility and much acrimony by our “leaders.” Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Jerry Nadler and Adam Schiff have averaged 30 years serving us in Washington. They have repeatedly called President Trump a dictator even though he can only serve no more than two terms. Yes, Trump is guilty of name-calling, too.
Many Democrats passed an ill-advised, rushed and flawed impeachment because they hate the president. Instead of issuing subpoenas to obtain more documents and have more witnesses during the fact-finding stage, they impeached the president on a partisan basis. What did they expect would happen when they walked over to the Senate with their incomplete work product?
Trump may be the first president who had government employees spy and leak on him to remove him from office. There must be a way to get out of the fast, acrimonious lane and have a government that works for the people.
Both political parties can do a better job by moving toward term limits. Why? Because many lawmakers carry grudges for decades. I’ll let you in on a secret: Lifetime lawmakers don’t want to go home to Kansas. It’s up to the people to put lawmakers on the same track as our president.
It’s important to note that Trump has only been around for three years while his enemies have been around 10 times longer.
