A well-known “urban myth” posits that a thousand chimpanzees pounding away on a thousand typewriters would eventually create the complete works of Shakespeare. Never believed that one, but Prez 45/47 has convinced me that one human with 98.8% of a chimp’s DNA (as we all do), one black Sharpie and a lifetime’s worth of built-up resentment can destroy the good works of an entire country.

While it might seem that vengeful executive orders, the BBB (Big Beautiful Bill, not Bloated Bag of Bile), tariff hysteria, treaty failures, gulf renamings and land-grab musings could only come from chimps at the keyboard, the more realistic explanation is this guy has set as his life’s work abusing anyone and anything (agencies, institutions, states, even whole countries) likely peopled by those too wise to be taken in by his delusions of political, business, social and economic grandeur.

Worse, he and his ilk aim to eternalize awfulness by convincing a sizable portion of us that another sizeable portion of us — code-named the Elites, the Wokes or “the Democrat Party” — never will furnish the respect deserved. Astonishing, given that every piece of legislation of the past 100 years boosting the comfort, equal opportunity, financial security, workplace and homeplace safety, better health, better education and even better veterans care seemingly has been fought for by Democrats and fought against by Republicans. But causing blame of each other has always been about keeping the question without a good answer from being asked: “Yes, but do you really need to have that much money?”
