I am confused by a recent mailer I received from the Republican party supporting Ted Tomson in District 33. The piece states that his opponent, Mandy Steele, a Fox Chapel council member, voted to defund the Fox Chapel police. I know, as does every other Fox Chapel resident, this to be false.
The budget for the Fox Chapel Police Department has increased while Steele has served on council, and she has never proposed or supported legislation to defund the police in any way. She has been a consistent supporter of our local police and all of our first responders, ensuring they have the resources necessary to keep our borough safe.
It is disappointing that her opponents are spending time and money in this campaign to spread untruths that are so easily debunked. That speaks to character or lack thereof. We can’t elect Tomson to the state House.
