Letter to the editor: Don’t listen to Trump

After watching President Trump’s daily updates on the coronavirus, it makes me wonder how far ahead of this problem we would be if Trump took it seriously months ago. While China, South Korea and other countries were locking down to prevent the spread of this virus, Trump was using it as a campaign tool.

In his daily briefings, Trump continues to campaign. He likes to tell everybody how this coronavirus snuck up on us. It’s a wonder he doesn’t hurt his arm patting himself on the back on what a great job he is doing, which I think is a lie. It seems to me that Trump is only worried about the stock market and getting reelected.

I don’t think Trump has any idea on what to do about this crisis. For a guy who claims to know more than the generals and the doctors, he appears to be lost but will not admit it. Trump has the experts behind him, but is he listening to them? “He has a hunch.”

This is a major crisis; people are dying. The United States, along with other countries, is locked down. Someone (like Mitch McConnell) should slap Trump in the face and tell him to get a grip.

Stay healthy, don’t listen to Trump and wash your hands.
