Regarding the article “Trafford councilman criticized for transphobic joke about state health secretary” (June 24, TribLIVE): Zack Cole, who are you to judge Pennsylvania Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine’s gender? Her name is “Rachel,” not “Richard.” It is called R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

You are in public office and should be dealing with issues in your district. I believe you are following the lead of President Donald Trump, since he has repeatedly insisted throughout his presidency that his dangerous, misleading or outright offensive remarks are simply jokes. Trump’s aides often revert to one of their tried and true tactics when Trump finds himself embroiled in controversy, claiming his comments were only jokes. Hmmm, sound familiar?
