$25 million to $30 million to revitalize Route 981 (“Design in final phase for Route 981 upgrade between Palmer airport and Pleasant Unity,” Feb. 12, TribLIVE)? This plan is to moderate sharp curves and steep grades and improve drainage and traffic flow.

So then we add in the roundabouts, at which we all sit there or just ram through because we feel it’s our right and our turn to go. How about all the folks who decide doing drag strip events on the inner portion of these roundabouts? I have driven to Mt. Pleasant several times while the current work is progressing, only to feel that it’s the same old traffic flow, only a new road that will encourage faster driving.

It’s possible to note that more development will come to these areas; however, in my 40 some years of driving these roads, the amount of traffic seems to remain the same. I hope we maintain these roads in a better manner after we invest such high amounts of money. One only need travel the roundabout near Saint Vincent College on a daily basis to see how maddening these traffic turn-abouts become. May the force be with the circle!
