It saddened me to read the article “Greater Latrobe School District starts vaccinating staff, sees ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ ” (Jan. 23, TribLIVE). My husband, a senior citizen, and I have been trying to schedule his vaccination. Most pharmacies aren’t even taking names to put on a wait list. Seems you need the clout of the PSEA to get pharmacies to vaccinate their staff (which are 1B and not even eligible yet, according to the guidelines).

Seniors have been forced to self-quarantine and sacrifice being with family and friends. These seniors have paid taxes for decades supporting these very school districts. Let’s see them be more responsible and respectful to the elderly of their communities.

Seniors are the most likely to have severe illness and death due to covid-19. We need to vaccinate the most vulnerable first.
