With alarm, we bear witness to President Donald Trump’s sledgehammering cuts to the federal government with agency closings, layoffs and indiscriminate and unlawful firings of civil servants, all occurring while Congress ineptly stands by.

Unelected but Trump-appointed Elon Musk enters and closes numerous agencies with dangerous, uncertain firings of nuclear weapons workers and bird flu specialists, with the FBI on the block for hollowing out.

Disruptions in the federal government frighten us as Musk and his gang target Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, programs many depend on. Will payments be cut, delayed or stopped in the turmoil?

In foreign policy, Ukraine is being sold out with NATO’s future in doubt. Trump’s call for peace in Ukraine only amounts to betrayal and Ukraine’s capitulation.

Trump and Musk, the world’s very richest, have halted food and medicine to the world’s poorest. These billionaires, who have never wanted for anything, have reached a new low in heartlessness.

To me, Trump’s actions show an abuse of power which could eventually lead to a constitutional crisis when he refuses to abide by court rulings that go against him.

And this is what a foolish America voted for. Turmoil reigning supreme; lives disrupted, safety at risk. But what did we expect from a convicted felon and his host of unqualified minions?
