Just another day in the Upside Down, an alternate yet much worse dimension that exists alongside the human world that we used to inhabit. The Upside Down, a dark and chaotic place, is continuously blanketed with a thick layer of soot, noxious fumes and neurotoxins. The water is a poisonous brew of heavy metals and microplastics. Tornadoes, hurricanes and wildfires occur with alarming frequency. There is no truth here, just alternative facts.
The mission of the EPA is to protect human health and the environment, not to line the pockets of fossil-fuel companies. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin’s promise to drive a dagger through what he calls “the heart of climate-change religion” in the recent article “EPA head says he’ll roll back dozens of environmental regulations, including rules on climate change” (March 12, TribLive) is worthy of the Upside Down world, not the world where most of us want to live.
