Letter to the editor: Every vote must count

Pennsylvanians deserve to have every vote count.

That’s why it was with real sadness that I saw that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled recently to throw out mail-in ballots that arrive without also being placed in “secrecy envelopes.” Secrecy envelopes are nothing more than some politician’s duplicitous scheme to convince voters an extra envelope is a ticket to election integrity.

I do not need a special envelope to pay my bills, pay my taxes or even to write a personal letter. These mysterious envelopes reek of bad faith. What happened to common sense?

I believe Donald Trump and the Republicans in this state are pulling out all the stops to block me from voting. I am, as they say, a woman of a certain age. My doctor says I need to be careful because of covid-19. But I do not plan on letting some judge decide if my vote counts or not.

That is why I am planning to vote in person. Not everyone is willing to take the risk, but I am. This election is too important.
