Regarding the letter “We must expand Supreme Court to correct corruption” (Aug. 28, TribLive): When you write “we the governed,” I hope you understand that you are not speaking for all Americans, as in “we the people.”

Your opinion of some of the recent SCOTUS decisions is held at best by 50% (probably less) of the population of the USA. The other 50% of us (probably more) happen to agree with the decisions you cite.

The job of the SCOTUS is to interpret laws relative to the Constitution. Nothing more, nothing less. Public opinion is not a consideration. If the law passes muster, it is constitutional. If not, it is unconstitutional. It’s that simple. Sure, there is disagreement among the justices, but, in the end, they take a vote, and that’s it.

Regardless of how often the mainstream media lie to you about it, the Constitution never guaranteed the right to an abortion. Therefore, Roe v. Wade was overturned and sent back to the individual states for consideration. We (50% +) agree the individual states should pass their own abortion laws.

Regarding Chevron, if our lazy Congress wrote laws that could be understood, there would be no need for the agencies to interpret them. The last thing we 50%-plus want is unelected bureaucrats deciding what they think Congress intended.

You may be pleased to know that I agree with you on adding more justices to the court. I hope President Trump does just that right after his inauguration Jan. 20.
