Regarding the letter “A nation in denial” (Feb. 27, TribLive): I see how the writer sees his nation is in denial. There are sources that give us pseudo-facts and, in my opinion, are a detriment to this nation.

Let’s see … Joe Biden is old and forgetful. OK, how about Donald Trump? He is old and at times confused. So we have two men who are old. If you worry about one, you most certainly should worry about the other.

Now Trump has a few things going for him that Biden doesn’t. Let’s say about 91 indictments. No matter how loud and often Trump and Fox News say the federal government is weaponized … it ain’t. I think Trump just figures if he says it loudly and enough times, people will believe him — and some do.

Now immigration. It seems to me some Republicans sponsored a bill that the border patrol union was in favor of, so a bipartisan immigration bill was created along with some funding for Ukraine. The Republicans wouldn’t touch the bill. House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wouldn’t even bring it to the floor for a vote. Biden was ready to sign it. Imagine this bill passing. The Republicans wouldn’t be able to berate Biden, saying he does nothing. They seem to want to use immigration as a campaign issue. You know, country first … oh wait … I mean party first.

We can all have our own opinions but not our own facts, no matter how often Trump cries foul or how much Fox News opines.
