Father John Moineau, who has done so much good for our community, helping many young and old people find their faith, is now not even being recognized. It seems to me that our diocesan leaders are being disingenuous by discouraging prayers for such a positive role model in his fight with cancer.

I cannot believe the Catholic Church paid $3 billion for sexual abuse scandals and now assigns the responsibility of managing clearances to the lowest level, the parishes. The higher authority should be responsible for this error or oversight, if this is what happened — not a pastor assigned to two parishes who is in the middle of battling cancer.

The Church teaches forgiveness for sins, but Father John is punished forever for what may be simply a mistake.

I think the diocese has a problem with their insurance, not with Father John, who has done more for the Irwin community’s values than any businessman, politician or individual. He deserves better, and I thought our Church was better.
