Letter to the editor: Federal government doing great job
In Michael DiVittorio’s article “6 employees at Smithfield Foods plant in Arnold test positive for coronavirus” (April 13, TribLIVE), union president Wendell Young was quoted as saying, “We wish we had better guidance out of the federal government.”
Where have you been, Wendell? The federal government created the Coronavirus Task Force in January. There have been almost daily briefings ever since. Exactly what do you want? Don’t blame the federal government.
Here’s a question DiVittorio should have asked: Have any of those six, or any others in his union, shopped at New Kensington’s Giant Eagle, Golden Dawn or Aldi? Over half of the people shopping at these locations are doing so without masks to prevent the spread of the virus.
So don’t blame our federal government. They are doing one heck of a job. Blame many of the feckless shoppers in our area who are so inconsiderate that they feel they can go out into public without any preventive measures. We can get through this, but we need 100% of our population to cooperate.
