As the song goes, “you don’t need money, you don’t need fame, don’t need no credit card to ride this train … but it just might save your life, it’s the power of love.”

Love is a gift from God, our creator, and God is a source of power and energy. What’s happened to US — the United States? It’s not a right or left, Republican or Democrat, conservative or liberal issue. The issue is the truth. Facts matter; we were created for truth and need to act in accord with the truth.

Our Founding Fathers understood natural law. Our founders were reason oriented and deduced from natural law what would make good policy and politics. They never talked about economics but instead debated over principles. One Founding Father, Thomas Jefferson, wrote most of the Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator … .”

Our founders knew that as a nation we could know the existence of God. America is deeply planted in natural law. There has been a loss of the principle of our human nature and dignity. Our founders were great thinkers and excellent examples of virtue — virtues of faith, hope and love.

Today we fail to think rationally. We don’t have a rational, principle-based country because we have been easily manipulated. Let’s unite around the principles that make us good. Let’s see the good and go after it. I believe the good can be found in the power of love.
