Letter to the editor: Flag for Biden would be upside down

Tribune-Review

The Sept. 24 edition of the Trib contained a number of interesting editorials.

From the Trib’s piece on voter registration at the DMV getting easier to Greg Fulton’s article on remembering Stan Musial — even Joseph Sabino Mistick discussing the need to bring back a “broken window” approach to policing was informative and on point.

Even the editorial by a couple of “scholars” who specialize in street gangs and far-right groups lamenting that law enforcement might have nipped the Proud Boys in the bud much earlier. (BTW, do any scholars study far-left groups?)

Add in George Will’s thoughts on New York’s unfair rent laws, and there was a lot of excellent reading.

But none were better than the “tongue-in-cheek” letter “Flags fly in support of Biden.” What great satire and hilarity those words brought forth. Even more hilarious was the writer’s list of wonderful things we’ve experienced under President Biden. He has “presented government programs to aid people” (I’m sure that means something important) and given us “health care for all” (which must be on its way because we don’t have it yet?). And he managed to “guide us through a terrible pandemic.” (Thank God it’s over.) And of course, “He is a real man.”

So here I am like most others, believing I was putting my flag out to honor America’s founders, veterans and first responders, only to find out I’ve been putting it out to honor Joe Biden. Well then, I guess I’ll be going outside to turn it upside down.
