Everyone should have the right to choose what they put in their body. But when it comes to “weed,” it’s time to listen to science instead of a 22-year-old budtender claiming “Purple Kushberry Magic” cures depression, headaches and arthritis or an MD collecting $200 to certify the self-diagnosis you walked in with.
Today’s evidence doesn’t back the hype. Limited research shows cannabis offers modest benefits for chemo-related nausea and some glaucoma symptoms, and of course getting high. We are seeing reverse “refer madness.”
My opinion is you are high if you think it is good for you, but let’s find out by having researchers who aren’t “California Sober” sort it out.
And like legalized gambling, legalization of the plant you can grow in all 50 states is framed as freedom or compassion, when in practice it’s another mechanism to extract money from working people while governments collect taxes and wealthy investors cash in. Based on what we know now, other than getting stoned, follow the money for the real benefits of marijuana.
