The office of treasurer of Pennsylvania requires a number of skills, not least among them attention to detail, fidelity to law and plain old common sense.

Stacy Garrity, the incumbent, is a decorated Army veteran of Iraq, a successful businesswoman with a Pennsylvania-based metals firm and a treasurer who has set records at every level of her office, including the highest possible ratings for the state’s 589 family college savings program.

Her opponent, Erin McClelland, is a failed candidate whose addiction treatment clinic ended in failure, who has been sued for unpaid debts and whose own campaign committee was dissolved by the Federal Elections Commission after she repeatedly failed to file legally required campaign expense reports.

McClelland’s antics have caused the governor of her own party to decline to endorse her, and she hasn’t shown the slightest ability to understand why the United States should support Israel and the Jewish people. Her candidacy is a joke. Her election would be a disaster.

Stacy Garrity is the only sensible choice for treasurer.
