Letter to the editor: God and prayer are still in our schools
Fall creates a flurry of activity and a return to a routine as teachers and students head back to school. There are those who will say, as they always do, that education went downhill when they took God and prayer out of the schools. Who said that God and prayer are no longer in our schools? I’m 68 years old, and I don’t ever remember praying in school.
We are all made in God’s image, and God lives in each of us. Prayer is not just words; prayer is alive in attitude and actions. As long as there are kind, good, patient, compassionate, selfless, understanding, wise, gentle and loving people in our schools caring for our children, God is there. So is prayer.
Thank you to all the administrators, teachers, support personnel, bus drivers, food service workers and maintenance and custodial staff who take the time to be an example of God’s love to those you serve. It is because of all of you that God and prayer still exist in school.
God bless you as you begin a new year full of opportunities and blessings. The rest of us will be praying for you.
