Letter to the editor: Good luck, protesters
Thanks to the Trib’s pre-coverage of the No Kings rally — worth thousands in free advertising — I was able to attend the Oct. 18 event.
While the crowd seemed pretty evenly split, the racist-fascist-Nazi-rapist-Hitler-deplorable signs definitely were the majority. I did my best to convince my fellow believers in “democracy” that we’d tried this already and lost the last election with it. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful.
While most signs were directed toward that guy who got the most votes in the last election, quite a few were directed toward the rest of America — including one about Republican “pedophiles.”
Other signs were about yet more impeachments and criminal charges, and supporting “democracy.” When I pointed out that Philadelphia has an early voting site every 2.97 miles while many rural Republican voters have to drive up to 40 miles each way, somehow no one seemed interested in “democracy,” similar to when I asked about liberals firing conservatives from their jobs for political posts made away from work on social media.
I can recall exactly one issue sign. It featured allowing men into your 15-year-old daughter’s locker room as a “human right” and how aliens who commit acts that are, errhh, contrary to the law, can never be illegal. Good luck in the next election. You’re going to need it.
