Letter to the editor: GOP not pro-life

The hypocrisy of the GOP has been of full display over the past weeks of mass shootings. Republicans claim to be the pro-life party and pay lip service to the fact that the Supreme Court is about to begin the process of dismantling Roe v. Wade. However, they approve of child sacrifice in the name of the NRA and do nothing to pass any legislation that would reduce the number of mass shootings in this country.

I am tired of the Republican lie that Democrats want to rescind the Second Amendment. Commonsense gun laws: raising the age of being able to purchase combat weapons to 21 and not permitting citizens to purchase bulletproof vests do not impinge on the right to bear arms. You can’t even buy most fireworks in Pennsylvania!

And as far as the right’s hysteria about abortion rights, why do they push the rights of the unborn and then seem to say that once the child is born, they have no right to food, shelter, a safe school environment or access to medical aid?

The GOP is not pro-life, but is a cult of death. I hope people keep that in mind for the 2022 elections.
