Letter to the editor: Government leaders live in alternate universe

Tribune-Review

If people don’t think our government lives in one of Stephen Hawking’s alternate universes, take a look at the headline “3.2% hike in Social Security benefits fails to keep up with rising costs, Western Pa. seniors say” (Oct. 13, TribLIVE). This just screams that we live in a brainwashed America.

Has anyone in our government been to Walmart lately? Have they paid their electric bill or gone to fill up at the gas pump? 3.2%?

My overall living expenses have gone up a good 20-30 percent this year, and I’m not alone, as your article points out.

This government’s money, energy, immigration and environmental policies are directly responsible for the lower standard of living everyone is experiencing. It’s not just Social Security. I’m so sick of hearing about inflation from the media. Hello — the dollar, our money, continues to devalue because of their policies. No one is believing the same old, regurgitated blame-it-on-covid excuse.

Thanks for the article and the heads up for me to just tighten the belt for me and my family a little more.

Hard times make hard people, hard people make good times; good times make weak people, weak people make hard times.

God bless America.
