Letter to the editor: Grateful to be in church with Father Moineau

Tribune-Review

I wrote in a previous letter that I would return to church when Father John Moineau did (“Praying for Father Moineau,” Sept. 24, Triblive). I have returned, and I am overwhelmed to share Mass with Father John in New Kensington each week. I cannot express how grateful I am to have him serving Mass and delivering his weekly homily. He just brings so much joy to his delivery at Mass that I have hope for a week filled with his love. I am beyond encouraged by his continued fight against cancer, with a smile on his face and a hug for all. I ask all to continue praying for Father John in his fight against pancreatic cancer.

I still cannot get past the way Bishop Larry Kulick handled this unfortunate circumstance. Father John admitted he signed off on paperwork without reviewing it; that was wrong, we get it. However, he did not do anything criminally wrong but was treated as if he did.

Are you not still a priest, Bishop Kulick? Are you leading by example by being forgiving and showing respect to others? Do you really embody the role of being a leader to his flock? I think not.

Father John has taught me that we must forgive others to move forward, but that does not mean I will ever forget the bishop’s treatment of a beloved priest who helped so many in our community.
