Letter to the editor: Great turnout to honor vets in Lower Burrell
The officers, veteran members and managers of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 92 in Lower Burrell are amazed and humbled by the number of people who turned out to place flags on the graves of veterans at Greenwood Cemetery on the Saturday before Memorial Day. Members, neighbors, parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren, Scouts and leaders, local officials, and representatives of the public offices of Reps. Jim Brewster and Bob Brooks and candidate Nicole Ziccarelli placed over 4,000 flags.
If I have missed any participating organizations, I apologize. Thank you for a job well done. If your loved one’s grave was missed, please stop in the cemetery office for a flag.
This is an open invitation for the Saturday before Memorial Day 2021. Come to the VFW Pavilion for camaraderie and a doughnut, and to pick up flags at 8:30 a.m. to honor our local deceased veterans.
