Letter to the editor: Gun ban proposal lazy, illegal

Tribune-Review

Mayor Bill Peduto and Pittsburgh City Council, who do you think you are? Your lazy, unlawful attempts to further burden the fine people of Pittsburgh with absurd laws are asinine. You are well aware that your attempt at a gun ban in the city of Pittsburgh, and that’s what it is, is prohibited by state law.

I suppose being politicians you must think that another law is the answer. Do you really believe a person who will ignore our laws against murder will obey your laws about gun ownership? Your acts to pass an unlawful law to further outlaw unlawful behavior (that’s a mouthful) is legislative laziness.

Living in Westmoreland County, I would normally be content to observe this circus from a distance; however, Peduto is quoted in the article ”Mayor Bill Peduto critical of DA’s letter challenging Pittsburgh’s proposed gun ban” (Jan. 22, TribLIVE) about wanting to “change the discussion” in Harrisburg and Washington regarding firearms. Keep your foolish ideas in the city of Pittsburgh. I can continue to avoid them by keeping myself and my money outside of it.
