Last year in a truly unremarkable way, I became a target of the Democratic Party. How did this happen? I bought my first firearm. I’m a middle-aged white guy who never grew up around guns and before last year, I knew nothing about them. My initial interest came about after my daughter purchased her first handgun. Then I read about them, watched videos about them, read parts of the Constitution and eventually practiced some range shooting myself.
After the legal purchase of my handgun, I continued to take lessons, educate myself and go target shooting. After many encounters at several local ranges, I am still amazed at the diversity of gun owners. It’s really comforting to enter a shooting range and see people from various backgrounds and racial and ethnic groups, and both genders. These are the newest gun owners of America. We are simply learning a new skill, enjoying a recreational sport and gathering together to exercise our constitutional right.
The fact that we have become a target (no pun intended) of the left-wing progressives in the Biden administration is troubling and misdirected. Considering President Biden’s poor performance so far, maybe he should rethink his priorities.
As for me, I’m already planning to purchase another gun as long as the Constitution allows me.
