Letter to the editor: Harris brings new energy to presidential race

Tribune-Review

Is anyone else feeling the energy of the revitalized presidential race? Finally, a relatively “youthful” candidate who can speak in coherent sentences and sees Americans for what we are at our core: strong, determined and freedom loving. That we can achieve when we come together as a country.

Contrast that with the other candidate telling us America is in decline, that America is weak and only he can save us, only he will be your retribution. Honestly, his schtick is getting old — even the “entertainment value” of his rallies is tired: Hannibal Lecter, electrocuting sharks and grade school taunts.

I will give Trump this — he kept two of his campaign promises: destroy Roe v. Wade so that women’s reproductive health is compromised and give tax cuts to the very rich. His other promises, not so much. No infrastructure bills, no Mexican-paid border wall, no middle-class breaks for anything.

To further cement his campaign, he names J.D. Vance as his vice president. Not only does Vance trash the Appalachian culture (He hates it! His book is no celebration of the people of that area.) but his comments on childless people not being patriotic or worthy of voting? Wow, who thought the MAGA world could sink any further?

I see people rail about Democrats taking freedoms such as certain cars and stoves away — no hypocrisy there when books and birth control are being taken away. I have to ask, when did Republicans become such snowflakey “victims”? Is that because their cult leader tells them they are? If yes, reread my first paragraph.
