When government decides to do something, constitutional limitations mean nothing. It assumes its citizens will go along with the power grab without questioning the legality of it.
President Obama wanted the Affordable Care Act passed. To help pay for this first cousin of national health care, the government mandated everyone must have health insurance or they would be fined. Many young people objected to this mandate but had to obey it. President Trump ended that mandate. I believe the government exceeded its power.
Trump doesn’t believe in mandatory face masks, and the scientific community is divided on the effectiveness of masks in stopping covid-19. However, Gov. Tom Wolf wants Pennsylvanians to wear masks. Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto wants us to wear masks. Who gave those dictators the right to force their opinions on us? I don’t believe they have the power to make us wear masks. Some people cannot wear masks for health reasons. Others simply reject Wolf’s recommendation as an unconstitutional power grab. Masks are optional.
Sometimes people without masks in stores are looked at with suspicion or even challenged. They have the right to their own opinion, just as the sheep who wear masks do. Don’t judge others.
It is time to rein in Wolf and Peduto. I don’t know if social distancing prevents covid-19 or if it can be enforced legally. However, I do believe mandatory mask regulations cannot be enforced. Wolf should open up the entire state. If he doesn’t, he should be removed using any necessary force.
