In response to Bob Serena’s letter "Decades of marijuana use haven't harmed health” (April 2, TribLIVE):

A study I’ve read about reported that not all marijuana users move on to more addictive drugs, but most, if not all, addicts that have used hard drugs started with marijuana.

He stated that he has used marijuana for over 50 years and has quit six or seven times. It seems as if longevity plus quitting and returning suggests addiction.

Serena’s physical condition as stated by him might be true. When I read his letter, I was reminded of the Rev. Jim Ignatowski, the character played by Christopher Lloyd on the TV show “Taxi.” Rev. Jim looked as healthy as a horse yet mentally he seemed to be drilling about a half inch off center. Check out on YouTube when Rev. Jim applied for his driver’s license.
