Regarding the letter “Flags fly in support of Biden” (Sept. 24, TribLIVE): I heartily disagree. My American flag — flown each day and night (lighted) — is the symbol of our free republic. The flag is more important than any personality and is raised over multitudes of our foreign embassies to denote that America stands for freedom through honor, sacrifice and hardship. It also points to our documents that govern how we watch over this republic and those founders who risked all to declare our republic separate from King George’s rule.

Remember, our founders had a reliance on Almighty God. We would not have the freedoms America provides without our precious Creator and his word — the Bible. Our laws were actually based on Godly principles, and each Patriot who signed our Declaration of Independence confirmed their trust in God. I believe God protected our nation because we followed his principles.

We Americans are fortunate to live under the freedoms our flag represents, and we need to be watchful against those who would remove our freedoms. We need to protect our America from those who would change us, especially in today’s digital world.
