Letter to the editor: How can we have fair elections when officials don’t follow the rules?

Does this surprise you? Election officials from four Pennsylvania counties admitted that they counted ballots that were not signed or dated during the 2024 election even after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled they couldn’t. Whether or not this would have helped Republicans or Democrats is not the point. They did not obey the law they were told to obey. Will these people be reprimanded with jail time or a fine so it doesn’t happen again?

Going to the polls rather than using mail-in ballots would help stop much of the confusion from happening again. What can be done to keep elections honest and fair for everyone, even those who really need mail-in ballots, when a group of officials does things like this?
